Josephine and her sister, Ethel Josephine Elizabeth Davis (also went by Jo or Josie) is the daughter of John Roan Davis and Mary Angeline Goble. She was born on 4 Jul 1903 in Rush Springs, Grady, Oklahoma. On 1 Ap 1926 in Prescott, Yavapa, Arizona, she was married to Jackson Edward Malone. The couple lived in Arizona and New Mexico for a while while Jackson worked as a train engineer. They adopted a daughter who is still currently living. They also had a son (not adopted):

After the death of their son and his wife, Josephine and Jackson took over the role of parents for Jerry's five children.
Josephine died on 20 Jul 1989 in Rogue River, Jackson, Oregon from breast cancer.
